This month is Bibliogoth's 9th birthday (Hippo Bathday to us!) and I'm thinking this is a good time to review how we do things, and maybe come up with some new ideas. As part of their austerity cuts, the government is planning to raise fares by 28% by 2015. We want to stop them.

Such massive fare rises will be a disaster for people already struggling with rising costs and frozen wages. People won’t be able to afford to get to work, or will be forced to drive – creating more traffic jams and more carbon emissions. Trains should be an essential public service, not a luxury for the rich.

Join us on the day we’ll find out exactly how high fares will be next January to send a clear message to the government: Affordable public transport is vital – cancel the fare hikes and don’t price us off the train!

We’ll be outside Waterloo station in London with placards, banners, speeches and plenty of outrage. Come by for half an hour on your way to work (any time between 8.00 and 9.30 AM) to pop giant balloons to show that it’s time to burst the bubble on inflation-busting fare hikes. Or make it the start of a summer day out in London. Either way, help us show the government that we won’t take their unfair fare hikes lying down!

1. I moved house. It's chaos over here and I'm having a wrong type of furniture error which I need to fix by the magic of Ikea but I've moved. My thanks to all those that helped!

2. My official degree transcript arrived. I now have official notification that I will be awarded a Master of Business Administration - Executive degree with a merit. I will graduate on the 21 July, although I'm not actually going to the graduation.

urban_witch and I are going to see David Tennant and Catherine Tate in Much Ado about Nothing on Friday - there is a spare ticket, anyone want it?

Just to remind people... Gothick Valley trip to X-men: First Class is on Tuesday. Film is at 19.30 at West India Quay Cineworld, but I will be at The Ledger Building just round the corner from 18.00-ish getting some dinner so please join me if you like :o)

I would recommend getting your ticket before coming to the pub just in case it sells out.

Very occasionally this particular evening slot of films sells out in the first week - you might want to consider buying a ticket in advance (unless you have a cineworld card like me and can't!!).

So Jess and I are going to see this next Tuesday evening, probably at West India Quay. Would anyone care to join us? I think it will be showing at 18.30 or 19.30 or 20.30. We were thinking 19.30 - anyone else? We can negotiate on times...

Proms:
I'd like to go to some Proms this year having been rubbish about it for the past few. Anyone else up for some? I like paying £5 to sit in the gallery but that does mean getting there early and queuing so I might buy proper tickets for some. I have a paper Proms guide so if people are interested maybe we can have a flick through in the pub one week. Or you can go look at the Proms planner online.
